September 11th Ten Years

Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11. As I sit here and watch the coverage, tears fall from my eyes.  I remember that day like it was yesterday.  I arrived at work in a pretty good mood and greeting everyone.  People were huddled around computer screens watching coverage of the first plane that hit one of the Twin Towers.  I was quickly told to be quiet.  Not knowing what was going on, I joined the group standing closest to my desk. I was in complete shock.  Who would have thought?!?! My son at that time was only 5 months old and I all I could think was "why did I bring a child into this world?" Well, 10 years have passed since that day and my closest friend who was there in the mix of it all (not in the actual towers), but  very close to them, still can't tell me the full details of her struggle to make it off the Island.  10 years have passed and babies born that day who lost their parents, have grown to be young ladies and gentlemen. 10 years have passed and we have all managed to pull it together and recover for the most part.  10 years have passed and I couldn't be prouder to be an American.  So the answer to my question from that day is this....I brought my son (and my daughter) in this world because I want them to be part of the great nation and society we call America.  We are a country that has always pressed forward.  To all those affected by attacks on our country, my heart goes out to you.  Stay strong and know you and your loved ones are appreciated and loved.  From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and your loved ones for their dedication to this country and any sacrifice made.

  1. This is such a great post, you words are exactly how I felt that day as well.
